The New Year’s Taste Fusion
Long gone are those times when the New Year Eve’s spreads in households all around Russia were lookalike; back then each family had the table set with the iconic Soviet- style Olivier salad, toasts with butter and red caviar (in case one could get their hands on it), canned sprats, and mandarin oranges. Nowadays the New Year’s spread of a Russian family doesn’t vary depending on the limited assortment of foods in stores, but largely on how stuffed your wallet and how creative your imagination are. However, there is a quite ironic paradox.
